Racing Musical, Heaven On Wheels

Heaven on Wheels, a musical about the history of stock car racing, is having its world premiere run at Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte (ATC) this month. The local theater company is co-producing the play with Virginia-based Once Upon a Blue Ridge Production Company.

“Being located just two blocks from the new NASCAR Hall of Fame, it is really exciting to offer what promises to be a very timely and popular play when NASCAR activity and history will be at the forefront in and around Charlotte,” says Dan Shoemaker, ATC executive director.

The production tells the true life stories about moonshine runners, beauty queens, dirt track heroes and speed-crazy champions from racing’s golden age, plus pays tribute to such racing greats as Curtis Turner, Louise Smith, Tim Flock and Bill France.
