Making Wedding Dreams Come True

As the World’s first nonprofit wedding wish granting organization, Wish Upon a Wedding (WUW) provides weddings at destinations across the United States for individuals facing life-threatening illness. Now coming to the Carolinas, WUW gives a chance for couples to enjoy a very special day, without any thoughts of existing health issues, while surrounded by their closest family and friends.

By celebrating the courage and spirit of these couples, WUW helps create lasting memories that will be cherished for years to come. The organization hopes that others facing similar situations will find hope, strength, and the promise of eternal love.

Founded in San Francisco, in January 2010, WUWcurrently has 15 chapters. Each of these chapters relies on volunteers known as Wish Granters to make dreams come true.

WUW grants three types of Wedding Wishes:
Urgent Wish: This type of wish is often urgent in nature and involves an individual or couple too sick to leave their bed, whether in home care, hospice care, or hospital care. The Wish Recipient has been diagnosed as having six months or less to live.

Boutique Wish: This type of wish is for wish recipients looking for an intimate event that have been given less than three years to live.

Romantic Wish: This type of wish may not be urgent in nature, but one of the wish recipients has been given a terminal prognosis of less than three years to live.
